FTI Consulting, Inc. announces that Marina Mattar has been named a senior advisor within the Strategic Communications segment. Ms. Mattar will provide government relations and public affairs counsel to FTI Consulting clients in various highly regulated industries globally and within the Brazilian market. She will be based in São Paulo.
“Marina has been at the forefront of many energy and industrial issues impacting our clients in Brazil, Latin America and globally,” said Ana Heeren, a senior managing director and Head of Latin America for the Strategic Communications segment at FTI Consulting. “Her expertise enhances our ability to provide strategic solutions for our clients in a time of increased political and regulatory scrutiny. I look forward to working with Marina and the rest of our regional team to further strengthen our offering and market position in Latin America.”
Currently, Ms. Mattar is a partner at Perspectivas Communications & Institutional Relations and Director of Communications at the Brazilian Association of Institutional and Governmental Relations. Additionally, she is a member of the Steering Committee of the World Bank's Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Partnership for Market Readiness of the World Bank and Brazil's Ministry of Economy. She was recently selected by the U.S. government to join the International Visitor Leadership Program (“ILVP”), which will focus on “transparency and accountability in government.”
Previously, Ms. Mattar was the director of institutional relations at the Brazilian Association of Airlines, focusing on mitigating the impacts of COVID-19. In addition to her work around COVID-19 in the airline industry, she created the aviation sector's advocacy strategy for tax reform and low carbon economy. Heavily involved in low carbon economy discussions in Brazil and abroad, Ms. Mattar has led various events in the last four editions of the United Nations' Climate Conference.
Mateo Millett, a senior managing director and head of the Industrial Sector for the Strategic Communication segment of FTI Consulting, added, “Companies across the industrials sector face an increasingly complex and uncertain operating and regulatory environment, both in Latin America and across the globe. From 2014 to 2020, Ms. Mattar was Director of Institutional Relations and Sustainability at the Brazilian Chemical Industry Association, Executive Coordinator of the National All Party Parliamentary Caucus of Chemical Industry at the National Congress and a member of the Leadership Group on Energy & Climate at the International Council on Chemical Industry, as well as several other environment and sustainability committees in Brazil.
During her time at the Brazilian Chemical Industry Association, she led the creation of its compliance manual and all advocacy strategies, two of which received the Marco Maciel Prize for Ethics and Transparency.
