FTI Consulting, Inc. announces that Brian Papp has been named a managing director within its Strategic Communications segment. Mr. Papp will use his extensive experience in public policy and government relations to advise clients when navigating key legislative issues. He will be based in Washington, D.C., and report to Bryan Zumwalt, a senior managing director and Head of Government Affairs for the Americas.

Mr. Papp joins FTI Consulting from Capitol Hill, most recently serving as staff director on the Senate Finance Committee’s Subcommittee on International Trade, Customs and Global Competitiveness. Mr. Papp’s tenure in the Senate also included serving as a senior policy advisor and professional staff member on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and as a Senior Policy Advisor in Sen. Thomas R. Carper’s (D-Del.) personal office. Mr. Papp was responsible for all trade and customs-related issues before the Senate Finance Committee and developed and executed a trade agenda on behalf of Sen. Carper as chairman of the Senate Finance Subcommittee on Trade. He also served as the Senator’s senior policy advisor for labor and agriculture issues during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Papp holds a bachelor’s degree in political science with minors in history and philosophy from the University of Delaware. His appointment is the most recent in a series of senior hires for FTI Consulting’s Government Affairs practice, including John Steitz and Russ Kelley.
