Baker McKenzie is further expanding its global M&A practice with the addition of Daniel Dehghanian, LL.M., who joins as a partner on 1 June 2024 and will be based in the Firm's Düsseldorf office. Daniel, who has been advising clients on M&A transactions and other strategic challenges for nearly 20 years, joins from Hogan Lovells. He will be joined by Sophie Ulrich, an experienced deal lawyer with whom he has been working for many years, who comes to the Firm as a counsel.
Daniel has a strong track record in helping multinationals with their cross-border M&A transactions, with a focus on the healthcare and technology sectors. He also has advised real estate developers and investors on numerous real estate share deal transactions, including single asset deals, portfolio transactions, forward deals and joint ventures across various asset classes.
"Daniel joins us as a very experienced deal lawyer with excellent connections in the Rhine-Ruhr industrial centre. With his many years of international transaction experience and broad M&A expertise, including in the healthcare, real estate and tech sectors, he will play a key role in shaping the development of our Düsseldorf office and will be an excellent addition to the M&A practice group. We warmly welcome Daniel to our Firm," said Dr Alexander Wolff, Managing Partner of Baker McKenzie in Germany.
"We are thrilled to welcome Daniel to our global M&A team. His arrival builds on a series of strategic hires we have made in key financial markets in recent months," added Jannan Crozier, Baker McKenzie's Global Chair of M&A. "With the continued growth of our M&A team we offer our clients the best combination of global capabilities with local knowledge to advise them on their most complex, cross-border transactions."
"I am excited to become a part of Baker McKenzie's M&A team and to continue to guide clients through complex, multinational transactions. I very much look forward to working with my new colleagues and continuing to drive the growth of the M&A practice in Düsseldorf and beyond," commented Daniel.
Daniel is the latest partner to join Baker McKenzie in Germany, where the Firm has been growing its bench since 2021 through additions from other leading transactional law firms. Recently, the Firm enhanced its capabilities with the addition of Dr Conrad Ruppel in Banking & Finance, Dr Johannes Baumann in M&A; both joined as partners and are based in the Frankfurt office. Dr Andrea Soprano (counsel), Joachim Ponseck (partner) and Dr Artur Swierczok (counsel) have strengthened the Restructuring & Insolvency practice in Frankfurt, and Dr Katharina Stüber is a partner in the M&A practice. Baker McKenzie also expanded its Private Equity practice in Munich with the arrival of Berthold Hummel and Dr Jakub Lorys.
Additionally, the arrival of Daniel further expands Baker McKenzie's global transactional platform, which, over the past year alone, has seen the addition of nearly 40 partners in key financial centres. In April, the Firm welcomed an elite transactional team in Los Angeles. The Firm also recently welcomed M&A/Private Equity partners Tobias Knapp (New York); Eric Schwartzman (San Francisco); Erika López (Chicago); Hannah Luqmani (London); and Theodore Heng (Singapore).
Baker McKenzie is a transactional powerhouse, with more than 2,500 deal lawyers in 45 jurisdictions offering pragmatic counsel in the areas most critical for clients. The Firm excels in complex transactions and cross-border deals; over 65% of our deals are multi-jurisdictional.
