Why was Whiteford Taylor & Preston hacked? According to Joshua Goldfarb in the second highlight, it's a very important question of motivation. Was it brand/reputation damage? Did they profit from the hack? Did they get PII to sell or to defraud people? According to the first highlight, hackers got "names, mailing addresses, dates of birth, social security numbers, financial information, health information and certain privileged legal communications " from Whiteford. the notice is on Whiteford's website (searching for incident brings up dozens of article dating back to 2001 and then at the very end, a dedicated site page "Data Incident."
