Metrics Matter: Defending the Value of Your Law Department

In this white paper, “Legal department metrics: Understanding and expanding your impact,” PwC NewLaw, which advises on the transformation of law departments and law firms, endeavors to “raise the bar” by providing a more comprehensive set of metrics to measure relative in-house performance. “For a long time,” PwC writes, “we’ve wondered why the legal profession has not been subject to, or for that matter subjected itself to, the same quantitative scrutiny other professions and businesses do.” There’s no better time than the present, PwC says, especially given the impact the pandemic is having on resources and budgets, which are being stretched thinner and thinner in many companies. “Legal departments are going to need to defend the value of their output more than ever and using metrics to do so in an objective and scientific way will be critical.” Check out this excellent resource, which covers metrics ranging from strategy to risk to legal skills to vendor management, here.
