I hadn't really considered the impact of AI on my leadership, much as I haven't really considered any technology advancements in the last few decades as materially impacting my leadership style. So when I saw Lolly Daskal's post I figured if anyone would, she would have the scoop on how this should impact me. To thrive in an AI world, she says you must:
- Understand AI Basics
- Develop a Data-Driven Mindset
- Retrain and Upskill
- Combine Human and Machine Strengths
- Long-term Vision with Artificial Intelligence
- Lead From Within
Understanding new tech is critical, even if you never become an expert in it. If you haven't already achieved a data driven mindset, then AI is certainly another thing pushing that. Technology has rarely ever been the sole strength. People and process form a triangle with technology and each has its strengths and weaknesses, which can vary based on the workflow in question. I'm always looking to upskill myself and my staff, so this is a continuation of the norm. Long term vision for any technology capable of such drastic disruptions that AI is can be hard for anyone to envision, but using AI to gain insights in all areas of operations makes sense to me.
