Be careful what you ask for - Law Technology Digest

In the beginning of the pandemic, I said I didn't understand how law firms were going to jettison physical space (as I recall some claiming they wanted to give up as much as 50%) in favor of work from home. I wasn't thinking about the tech (we all pretty much got that down at this point) or the leases (not so easy to break those long term leases) but more how the firms would adjust their cultures to accommodate such drastic claims. Jose Ancer doesn't mince words in his title today declaring "Remote Lawyers Are Always Second-Class." He goes on "The mere request from a law firm that their lawyers come back to the office is a test; a sorting function if you will. Like all the other ways the firm tests your allegiance, they know that the real players will do what the firm says."
