ACC Raises the Bar with Ops Maturity Model 2.0

The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) has released ACC Legal Operations Maturity Model 2.0, a more robust iteration that reflects the rapid evolution of the ops function. The organization solicited input from law department leaders via its Legal Ops Interest Groups, as well as practitioners in each of 14 functional areas covered by the model: change management and communication, contract management, eDiscovery, external resources management, financial management, information governance, innovation management, IP management, internal resources management, knowledge management, metrics and analytics, process and project management, strategic planning and legal operations leadership, and technology management. “The pressures on legal departments over the past year have only increased the need for general counsel and their leadership teams to align on operational improvements,” said Catherine J. Moynihan, ACC’s associate vice president, legal management services. “Put simply, the advanced stage is now more advanced. This fact shouldn't discourage teams that find themselves at earlier stages; on the contrary, it will inspire them to keep improving in efficiency and integration across the company.” Model 2.0, along with a foundational toolkit for ACC members, is available on the ACC website.
