WMACCA To Focus On Ethical Obligations Surrounding Information Technology

Join the Washington Metropolitan Area ACC as it presents Judicial Perspectives on Ethical Obligations regarding Technology, E-Discovery and Information Management. The event will be held live on Tuesday, October 27 at the offices of Gannett Co., Inc., at 7950 Jones Branch Drive in McLean, VA.It will begin at 7:30 a.m. and end by 10 a.m. EST.

The event will be presented as a facilitated discussion with five judges discussing the ethical obligations of in-house counsel regarding technology, information management and e-discovery.Attendees will learn about duty of competence, confidentiality of information, candor to the tribunal and fairness to opposing party and counsel. The presenters will reviewthe Sedona Cooperation Proclamation and how it comports with the ethical obligation to zealously advocate for the client, and they will probe the new Federal Rules of Evidence 502 and its seeming conflict with the ethical duty to keep client's confidences.

The presenters include Hon. John Anderson, magistrate judge, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia; the Hon. Rosemarie Annunziata (ret.), mediator/arbitrator, JAMS; and the Hon. Paul Grimm, chief magistrate judge, U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.
