Paul Hastings LLP today further bolstered its leading private equity platform with the addition of William (Bill) Schwab as a partner and chair of the Boston office. He reunites with longtime former colleague Alexander Temel, who recently joined the firm as co-chair of the private equity practice.
Schwab represents private equity funds and portfolio companies in mergers, acquisitions, secondary transactions, recapitalizations and management buyouts. He advises searchers, search fund companies and their investors on raising funds, acquisitions, operations, and exits. Schwab also provides outside general counsel to early-stage and mature private companies, assisting with debt and equity financings, corporate governance, commercial agreements, and employment matters.
Like Temel, Schwab joins from Sidley Austin LLP. Together, they represent premier clients, including Goldman Sachs, Great Hill Partners, Sixth Street, and Thayer Street Partners in their most sophisticated and complex matters.
“I am excited to join the tremendous Paul Hastings platform, and bring that platform to Boston,” said Schwab. “The synergies that exist between our practice and the firm will provide more opportunities to serve both new and existing clients at the top of the market.”
Schwab and Temel join a strong Paul Hastings private equity practice that has seen a material influx of premier talent recently. The firm has added more than 20 top-tier lawyers over the last nine months—all with significant experience representing a wide range of sponsors—who enhance the firm’s ability to serve leading private equity clients such as ABRY Partners, Accel-KKR, Francisco Partners, Goldman Sachs, H.I.G. Capital, Insight, KKR, Morgan Stanley, Oakley Capital Investments, Providence, Symphony Technology Group (STG), and York Capital Management.
