WESFACCA is planning a CLE seminar titled Protecting the Crown Jewels in a Flattening World: Avoiding Common Pitfalls in Technology Development & Adopting Cost-Effective Strategies for Trans-national Planning.
The program will take place on Wednesday, May 2 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Woodway Country Club, Darien, CT.
This program will address the international nature of business today and why knowledge of technology issues in the global arena is a necessity for all in-housel counsel, not just those responsible for intellectual property matters. Discussion will outline the "sword v. shield" issues that surround technology development and provide in-house generalists with a basis of knowledge to work effectively with their intellectual property counsel. The session will focus on identifying the rights that a patent provides, analyzing the cost benefit in planning global protection for inventions (addressing the territorial nature of patents) and concerns that arise in collaborating with third parties.
