What Attorneys Should Know About FDA Drug-Name Requirements

The San Diego Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel is planning a CLE seminar titled Brown Bag Program: FDA Issues Relating to Drug Names.

The program will take place on Thursday, March 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the offices of Fish & Richardson, 12390 El Camino Real, San Diego.

When selecting a trademark for a new pharmaceutical product, companies likely considered the Patent and Trademark Office's requirements for registration. But do you know what the FDA looks for in trademarks when deciding to approve new drug names? This program will show attorneys how to avoid some of the common pitfalls that have caused PTO-registered brands to be refused by the FDA.

Speakers will be Lisa Martens, Fish & Richardson, and Charles Berkman, vice president, general counsel and secretary, Ligand Pharmaceuticals, Ltd.

There is no registration fee for the seminar. For details on available CLE credits, see the Bulletin Board on The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel website at www.metrocorpcounsel.com.
