Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Amsterdam office welcomes four new lawyers, with Partner Wesley Boldewijn, Senior Associates Aukje Strik and Thomas de Booij, and Associate Alexander van Rijckevorsel van Kessel joining the Tax Practice from Dentons.

He also assists clients with strategic advice on complex domestic and international restructurings, market launches, IP transfers, mergers and acquisitions, and tax disputes. Boldewijn has a particular focus on the taxation of the digital economy, advising companies in the technology sector but also supporting companies going through the transformation to the new economy.

Strik is a tax lawyer with deep experience in international tax law. She focuses on corporate tax, withholding taxes, and the international and EU law aspects thereof. Strik advises companies on complex national and international reorganisations, setting up and maintaining international group structures and mergers and acquisitions. Strik is also experienced in international IP transfers, winding up bankruptcies, and applying for tax reliefs for clients. She regularly works with tax authorities in dispute resolution.

de Booij is a tax lawyer who focuses on national and international tax law. He advises, among others, large (family) investment funds, scale-ups, and multinationals in various sectors. He counsels companies on complex national and international reorganisations, setting up and maintaining international group structures, and mergers and acquisitions. De Booij has deep experience in tax advice surrounding the entry of foreign companies into the European market.

van Rijckevorsel van Kessel is a tax lawyer who focuses on national and international tax law. He has experience advising on international restructurings and international taxation of the digital economy.

Boldewijn noted, “New and complex tax laws and regulations are constantly being introduced worldwide. Clients need to follow these developments closely and make quick decisions that often have a major financial impact. Naturally, they need experts who think strategically and are decisive. Greenberg Traurig’s international footprint, combined with its strong focus on cooperation and high-quality services, make this firm ideally placed to meet that need. At Greenberg Traurig, the focus is on building lasting and personal ties with clients, which appealed to me greatly. It is great to see that, with our arrival, Greenberg Traurig’s Amsterdam Tax Practice has immediately grown into the top five law firms in the Netherlands with a large multidisciplinary tax advisory practice.”

Marijn Bodelier, deputy managing partner of Greenberg Traurig Amsterdam, adds, “With Greenberg Traurig’s growth in recent years, strengthening our tax practice is also appropriate, as it has traditionally been one of our key practice groups. Our clients typically operate internationally and want the best tax strategies in each country. Many M&A deals we handle also involve complex tax questions. With this relatively young team, we’ll be able to handle this growth extremely well in the coming years.”
