Upcoming DRI Seminar Examines Drug And Medical Device Defense

DRI - The Voice of the Defense Bar - has scheduled a Drug and Medical Device Seminar for two days in May.

It will be held Thursday and Friday, May 20 and 21, at the San Francisco Marriott. On Thursday it will run from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., followed by a networking reception at 6 p.m., and on Friday it will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

A Young Lawyers Blockbuster program is scheduled on Thursday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Participants will hear the latest developments regarding preemption after Levine and Riegel and learn how to take full advantage of this defense. They will discover best strategies for presenting experts to maximize the "science" part of a case and learn about insurance coverage and recovery issues that arise in pharmaceutical and medical device mass torts. Other topics include foreign jurisdictions - they may come with a price tag; presenting clinical evidence at trial; and potential civil and criminal liability arising from clinical trial.

A diversity lunch will be held on Friday at noon.
