University Of Texas Schedules Annual Gas And Power Institute

The University of Texas School of Law has scheduled its annual Gas and Power Institute for Thursday and Friday, September 10 and 11, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Houston.

The two-day course will begin at 8:30 a.m. and adjourn at5 p.m. on Thursday and will begin at 8:30 a.m.and adjourn at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.

The institute will present topics important to the gas and power industry in light of the current economic climate. Participants will enhance their knowledge of enforcement, environmental initiatives and recent state and federal legislative actions and regulatory initiatives. They will also learn about the bankruptcy process, structured finance transactions, how to avoid malpractice claims and the strengths and weaknesses of mitigation tools.

Specific topics include an overview of recent legislative session developments and regulations affecting the natural gas and electric power industries with John K. Arnold of Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP; Commodities Prices: What a Difference a Year Makes with Clay Seigle of Houston; Lessons Learned in Recent Bankruptcy Cases - a panel discussion with Marty Jo Rogers of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC moderating; and State and Federal Smart Grid Initiatives with Brett A. Perlman of EnerNOC in Houston.
