University of Texas Plans Patent Law Institute In Silicon Valley

The University Of Texas School Of Law plans to hold its annual Advanced Patent Law Institute at the Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley in East Palo Alto California.

Scheduled for Thursday and Friday, December 10 and 11, the program will run from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. on Friday.

The program promises an excellent depth and breadth of subject matter. Among the topics and speakers are a judicial panel moderated by Vernon M. Winters, Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP; Cost Management for IP Litigation: Strategies for Dealing with "Frivolous"Law Suits with Catherine Lacavera of Google, Inc. and Michael J. Malecek of Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP; and IP Diligence during Patent Acquisitions and Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions with William S. Galliani, Cooley Godward Kronish LLP and Mallun Yen, Cisco Systems, Inc. Thursday's luncheon presentation, an Update from the USPTO, will be presented by David Kappos, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, VA, and Friday's luncheon presenter, Edward R. Reines of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP will discuss The Importance of Amicus Briefs to Successful Appellate Advocacy.
