University Of Texas Plans Health Law Conference

The University Of Texas School Of Law has planned its annual Health Law Conference for Thursday and Friday, April 16 and 17, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Houston.

On Thursday, the conference begins at8:45 a.m. with a State Legislative Update by John Hawkins of the Texas Hospital Association in Austin, followed by a Federal Health Policy Update by Alex R. White of the American Hospital Association and the Health Law Year-In-Review by Beth Schermer of Coppersmith Gordon Schermer & Brockelman PLC.Luncheon breakout sessions follow with two tracks - Hospital-Physician Deals and Hospital Issues. The general session resumes until 5:15 p.m.

On Friday, the conference opens at 8 a.m. and adjourns at 12:45 p.m.Topics include an Enforcement and Compliance Panel, Including Self-Disclosure Issues with moderator Gary W. Eiland of King & Spalding LLP and panelists Gregory M. Luce, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and James G. Sheehan, the Office of the Inspector General in Albany, NY.

An optional evening session precedes the conference on Wednesday, April 15, beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m. Those discussions include a Health Law Primer, In-House Counsel Issues, and Compliance Officers: Reporting Responsibilities, Legal and Ethical Issues.
