The U.S. Copyright Office will come to California to present a CLE event sponsored by the State Bar of California. The daylong seminar is scheduled for two dates and locations: on Wednesday, February 18, at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, 2025 Avenue of the Stars in Los Angeles, and on Friday, February 20, at The Westin St. Francis Hotel, 335 Powell Street in San Francisco.
It is scheduled to run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, will include a luncheon, and will be followed both days by a reception from 5 to 6:15 p.m.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet top officials from the U.S. Copyright Office and learn about the Copyright Office's latest activities in formulating copyright law and policy in Congress, the courts, internationally, and through the regulatory process. Among the topics to be discussed are current copyright law and policy activities of the Copyright Office, legislative activity in the 111th Congress, copyright registration: issues for practitioners and copyright owners, and the Google Books Settlement.
Scheduled speakers include Marybeth Peters, Register of Copyrights; David Carson, General Counsel, U.S. Copyright Office; Tanya Sandros, deputy general counsel, U.S. Copyright Office; and Linda Gill, chief of the Performing Arts Division, U.S. Copyright Office.
