On Thursday and Friday, May 26 and 27, the University Of Texas School Of Law will hold its Annual Technology Law Conference at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin.
It will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and from 8:00 a.m. until 3:10 p.m. on Friday.
On Thursday, topics that will be covered include trends in outsourcing legal services, a practical guide to open source enforcement issues,the legal and employment issues involving a technology workforce, and current issues in copyright litigation and enforcement.Randall E. Colson, Haynes and Boone LLP, and Eric M. Reifschneider, Dewey & LeBoeufLLP, will discuss advanced technology licensing - updates on a variety of advanced licensing issues that arise in technology license agreements.M&A in the technology sector, which addresses the various M&A issues that arise in the acquisition of technology companies, is a panel discussion moderated by Richard E. Climan, Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP.
On Friday, mobile applications and emerging legal and transactional issues, contracting for cloud services - closing the gap between vendors and customers without losing critical protection, and ethical dilemmas in corporate or organizational environments will be covered.Handling of personal information by third-party providers (as data storage and processing increasingly moves to the cloud) will cover the basic legal framework, best practices and corporate perspectives. A practical guide for corporate counsel and technology lawyers on how to respond to requests for information will be discussed by Peter D. Kennedy, Graves, Dougherty, Hearon & Moody, P.C.
