Tips On Persuasive Legal Writing

The Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) this month is offering a CLE seminar titled Persuasive Legal Writing.

The program will take place on Wednesday, January 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the CLE Auditorium, 465 California Street, San Francisco.

Participants will learn how to write motions and briefs that capture the court's attention, and to persuade a busy judge by writing with brevity, simplicity, clarity, and honesty. Speakers will offer more than 70 tips to help participants write shorter briefs more easily and more quickly, enhance their stature in the eyes of the court, and increase their chances of winning. Special attention will be given to law and motion briefs, including summary judgment.

Speakers will be Daniel U. Smith, a Certified Appellate Specialist, and the Hon. David A. Garcia, retired judge of the San Francisco Superior Court.
