Tips On Forming Tax-Exempt Organizations

The Connecticut Bar Association will present a CLE seminar titled How to Establish a 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Organization in Connecticut.

The program will take place on Wednesday, January 30 starting at 9 a.m. at the CBA Law Center, 30 Bank Street, New Britain, CT.

This program will walk attendees through the steps required to establish a new nonprofit 501(c)(3) public charity, including incorporation at the state level, application to the IRS for tax-exempt recognition, and other applicable registrations and filings. The speaker will explain how to counsel clients as to what form the nonprofit organization should take, and whether establishing a new nonprofit is the most appropriate approach. The speaker will provide sample corporate documents as appropriate, and the attendees will work with actual forms and applications during the program.

The speaker will be Priya S. Morgenstern, director, Nonprofit Pro Bono Initiative, Connecticut Urban Legal Initiative, Inc.
