Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce the continued growth of the firm with the addition of attorneys Brian Carr, Becky Saka and Sam Sturgis in its West Palm Beach, Miami and Fort Lauderdale offices, respectively.
Brian Carr is a member of the firm’s Corporate practice. Prior to joining Gunster, Brian served as a corporate attorney for a large Boston-based law firm where he represented private equity and venture capital clients across a range of complex transactions. Brian also provided strategic counsel on corporate governance and other general corporate matters to his clients.
Brian earned his J.D. and LL.M. in taxation from Boston University School of Law, an M.S. from Northeastern University D’Amore-McKim School of Business, and a B.A. in accounting from the College of the Holy Cross.
Becky Saka focuses primarily on complex commercial and business litigation as well as appellate law. Prior to joining Gunster, Becky was an associate at a litigation firm in Miami, where she litigated in state and federal court and in arbitration on a variety of complex commercial and business disputes. Becky has worked on cases at all stages of litigation and has assisted in evidentiary hearings, final hearings, and a jury trial.
Becky earned her J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law and her B.A. from University of Florida.
Sam Sturgis focuses on personal and business-related tax matters that include estate and business succession planning, ERISA and employee benefit law, and executive compensation. Prior to joining Gunster, Sam was an associate in the executive compensation practice of another leading global law firm in Washington D.C., where he advised public companies and private equity funds on tax and corporate law issues related to executive compensation and employee benefits matters.
Sam earned his J.D. from Mississippi College School of Law and his B.F.A from University of North Texas.
