Texas State Bar Plans Advanced Energy Law Course

The State Bar of Texas has planned a two-day seminar titled Advanced Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law Course for Thursday and Friday, September25 and 26,at the Weston Oaks Houston, 5011 Westheimer at Post Oak, Houston.

The program will begin on Thursday at 8:45 and adjourn at 5:20.On Friday the seminar begins at 8:30 a.m. and adjourns at 4 p.m.

Attendees will learn about such topics as challenging vintage oil and gas leases with marginal production, urban leasing, the technology of examining titles, ethics rules and in-house counsel, master service agreements, arbitration of oil and gas disputes, financing of oil and gas transactions, and best practices in drafting form agreements.

Included in the program are luncheon presentations on both days and a panel discussion on Friday on subsurface trespass by hydraulic fracturing (the Garza case revisited), with the plaintiff perspective presented by Michael D. Jones, Kilburn Jones & Gill, and the defense perspective by Elizabeth N. Miller, Scott, Douglas & McConnico.
