The State Bar of Texas has scheduled a two-day course to discuss Suing and Defending Government Entities.
It will be presented live on July 15 and 16 in San Antonio at the Marriott Riverwalk and will be repeated as a video replay August 26 and 27 at the Doubletree Campbell Centre in Dallas. Participants may come a day early to attend an introductory course titled Best Practices for Public Sector Lawyers at the San Antonio location only.
On Thursday, Weil Gotshal & Manges lawyer Lisa R. Eskow will offer a U.S. Supreme Court Update, William Odom, Digital Forensic Excellence, will give a talk entitled Record Retention and E-discovery Best Practices, and Charlotte Bingham, vice chancellor of administration, Texas Tech University, will discuss Retaliation Claims: Participatory Opposition and 1st Amendment. Other topics that will be discussed throughout the course are Individual Immunity ( Iqbal and Rule 15), Making the Court Rule on Immunity Issues in Federal and State Court, and Mediating Suits Involving Governmental Entities. Hon. Todd A. Hunter, Texas state representative, District 32 and Hunt & Handel, PC, will offer State Legislation Regarding Civil Liberties.
