Texas Seminar Focus: Advising Businesses

The University of Houston Law Foundation will present a seminar on two dates and locations in January titled Advising Businesses in a Troubled Economy. On Thursday and Friday, January 15 and 16, the seminar will be presented in Houston at the Hilton University of Houston Hotel, and on Thursday and Friday, January 22 and 23, the program will be presented in Dallas at the Cityplace Conference Center.

The program will go from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on day one and from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on day two.

With the focus on running a business in a troubled economy, the course will cover raising capital, valuing businesses, purchasing and selling distressed assets and businesses, negotiating with lenders and lessors, conducting internal investigations, understanding the shareholder oppression doctrine, collecting receivables, avoiding employment law claims, and protecting your client via non-compete agreements, among other topics.

Among the presenters are John D. Bittner, Grant Thornton LLP, Wallis M. Hampton, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, and Jennifer M. Trulock, Baker Botts L.L.P.
