Texas Law School Schedules Annual Oil, Gas And Mineral Institute

The University of Texas School of Law this month has scheduled its 33rd Annual Ernest E. Smith Oil, Gas & Mineral Law Institute.

The symposium will take place on Friday, March 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hilton Houston Post Oak, 2001 Post Oak Boulevard, Houston.

This long-standing institute again features varied topics in the oil, gas and mineral law area, anchored by the annual case law update provided by the program's namesake, Professor Ernest E. Smith of the University of Texas School of Law. Like prior institutes, this year's program includes presentations surveying traditional subjects, such as duties owed by the executive to non-executive owners, preferential rights and consent requirements, common defenses in lessor-lessee litigation and surface access (this time with emphasis on urban areas).

Other speakers include William B. Burford, Hinkle, Hensley, Shanor & Martin, L.L.P., and Gregory S. Matthews, Winstead Sechrest & Minick P.C.
