Texas General Counsel ForumSeeking Magna Stella Award Nominees

The Texas General Counsel Forum is seeking nominations for its 2007 Magna Stella Awards.

The awards were established last year to recognize excellence in in-house counsel leadership in Texas. The name Magna Stella is Latin for "great stars."

The 2007 winners will be announced on November 1 at the Magna Stella Awards Dinner, held in conjunction with the Forum's 2007 Annual Conference.

The nominations deadline is Friday, July 20. The panel of judges will meet later in the summer to select finalists.

Serving as judges for the 2007 awards are Michael Godfrey, general counsel, Texas A&M University; Charles Lotter, retired general counsel, J.C. Penney Company; Keith McDole, former general counsel of Occidental Chemical Company and partner Jones Day; Anne McNamara, retired general counsel of AMR Corporation and its subsidiary, American Airlines, and Buck Smith, former general counsel, 7-Eleven, Inc.

In the 2007 Magna Stella Awards, in-house leaders will be honored in nine categories: Lifetime Achievement, Major Litigation, Major Transaction, Diversity, Innovative Management, Small Legal Department (1-10 lawyers), Large Legal Department (11 or more lawyers), Non-Profit or Government Agency, and Up & Comer (under 45 years of age).
