Texas Bar Program:Lessons For Young Lawyers

The State Bar of Texas has scheduled a one-day program to provide young lawyers with tips for a successful career. On Friday, November 12, the bar will present Success Strategies and Key Lessons for Young Lawyers at the Cityplace Conference Center, 2711 North Haskell in Dallas.

It will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and include a networking breakfast at 7:45 a.m. and lunch at noon.

This nonmandatory course, which is designed to complement the mandatory four-hour Guide to the Practice of Law course (offered only by the Texas Center for Legal Ethics and Professionalism),will cover the following: free legal resources you never knew you had, negotiation techniques, starting your own practice, avoiding disciplinary action, and what can your paralegal do?

Kim J. Askew of K&L Gates LLP will explain How to Succeed in Your First Trial or Transaction, and Lisa S. Richardson, Richardson & Cechura, PLLC and Gindi E. Vincent, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, will discuss Striking a Balance: How to Salvage Your Life and Sanity as You Strive to Get Ahead at Work.

The luncheon presentation, Legal Writing for the Rewired Brain, will be presented by Robert Dubose, Alexander Dubose & Townsend LLP.
