Texas Bar Explores In-House Counsel Issues

On Thursday and Friday, September 2 and 3, the State Bar of Texas will offer a video replay of the Advanced In-House Counsel Course at the Doubletree Hotel Campbell Centre, 8250 N. Central Expressway in Dallas.

It will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Among the topics being discussed are What In-House Counsel Needs To Know about Blogs & Networking Sites, Employment Law, Insurance, Legal Opinions in Legal Transactions, and Environmental Law. Thursday's luncheon presenter is David A. Furlow, Thompson & Knight LLP, discussing Ten Legends & Myths of Texas Law. Practicing Law and Wellness and a general counsel roundtable titled Leadership in Trying Times will round out Thursday's program.

On Friday, Katherine Smith Addleman, Haynes and Boone LLP, will present Staying out of SEC Trouble: The View from a Former Regional Director, and What In-House Counsel Needs to Know about the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act will be offered by Marsha Z. Gerber, Fulbright & Jaworski.Intellectual Property, Anti-Trust and White Collar Issues are among the topics to be addressed. Todd H. Silberman, The Law Office of Todd H. Silberman, and Abel Martinez, HEB Grocery Company, will present the Do's and Don'ts of In-House Counsel.
