Symposium Focus: Labor And Employment Law

In its upcoming Twenty-Ninth Annual Labor and Employment Law Symposium, the Los Angeles County Bar Association will provide practical advice and cutting-edge panel discussions on labor and employment law issues of critical importance to attorneys, judges, neutrals, in-house counsel, and human resource professionals.

The session will run from 8:15 a.m. to 4:20 p.m. and will be followed by a cocktail reception hosted by JAMS. It will be held at the Biltmore Hotel, 506 South Grand Avenue in Los Angeles.

The panel discussion format will cover opposing viewpoints, interpretations and strategies. Among the topics to be discussed are Labor and Employment Under the Obama Administration; Labor and Employment Law Issues in a Recessionary Economy; Effective Advocacy in Employment Arbitrations: The Experts Tell You What Works and What Works Against You; Ethical Issues in the Negotiation of Settlement Agreements; and Top 20 Tips on Federal Court Practice and Procedure.

The luncheon keynote speaker, the Honorable Phyllis Cheng, director of the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, will present "The DFEH at 50: A Half-Century of Protecting Californians from Employment, Housing, and Public Accommodation Discrimination."
