The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) will present its Seventh Annual CLE Expo Wednesday-Friday, March 26-28 at the Chicago Marriott Downtown, 540 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago.
The conference is designed to bring together attorneys from leading corporate law departments, with an emphasis on minority and women lawyers who will share their expertise on substantive legal practice areas.
The conference will open on Wednesday with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by MCCA's 2008 Midwest Region Diversity Dinner (not included in conference registration).
A series of breakout sessions, covering substantive issues of interest to in-house counsel, will take place from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday. Among the topics to be explored will be: Shareholder Activism and Corporate Governance; Hedge Funds and Their Increasing Influence on Corporate Governance; Developing and Managing Global IP Policy: Playing Multidimensional Chess in a War Zone; Enforcing IP Rights in India, China and Other Developing Countries; Update on Recent Employment and Labor Law Developments; Defending the Corporate Diversity Program; Optimal Career Strategies: The New Core Competencies for Success; Government Investigations That Focus on In-House Attorneys: When in Doubt, Blame the Lawyers, and Building Compliance Into the Business: Perspectives From the Seat of the Chief Compliance Officer.
The keynote speakers for the conference will be Gwen Ifill, moderator and managing editor for Washington Week and senior correspondent for The News Hour With Jim Lehrer , and Linda Chatman Thomsen, director of the Division of Enforcement, SEC.
