Stradley Ronon Attorney Invited To Reform Copyright Law

Stradley Ronon attorney Kim Jessum was invited to participate in the American Bar Association Section of Intellectual Property Law's newly formed Copyright Law Reform Task Force. The task force will meet with congressional leaders in an effort to reform copyright law.

As of counsel in Stradley Ronon's intellectual property practice group, Ms. Jessum focuses on patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret matters.

Joshua Shapiro, of counsel in Stradley Ronon's business group, has been appointed to the Pennsylvania Tobacco Settlement Investment Board. Mr. Shaprio, who serves as a member of the House of Representatives from the 153rd Legislative District in Montgomery County, PA, will participate in managing the $11 billion settlement that the Commonwealth received from the national tobacco litigation. The funds will be disbursed to health-related programs, making it the largest investment ever in the health of Pennsylvania residents.

Mr. Shapiro focuses his practice on general corporate work, real estate, commercial litigation, public housing law and regulatory compliance.

John Ake, partner at Stradley Ronon, served on the faculty of the International University Audentes in the Republic of Estonia teaching U.S. investment and securities law. The course focused on U.S. and European Union securities regulatory structures, disclosure protocol and requirements, anti-fraud prohibitions and equity market structures.

Stradley Ronon partner Danielle Banks was appointed to the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) House of Delegates. The House, which establishes PBA policy, is comprised of members who vote on matters affecting the substance and administration of policies.

As a partner in the firm's litigation practice group, Ms. Banks represents companies and individuals in employment law matters, including claims brought under Title VII, Section 1981, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

Jeff Grossman, Stradley Ronon partner, was elected as a member of the board of Musicopia - a nonprofit organization that delivers music education and programming to students and communities throughout the Delaware Valley, with a particular focus on geographical areas that lack adequate music programs.

Nonprofit Forum, a group of attorneys that addresses problems in the nonprofit sector and developments in the field, has elected Stradley attorney Mark Chopko to its membership. Membership is limited to 30 attorneys specializing in areas of law that affect nonprofit organizations and are drawn from academia, inside counsel to nonprofit institutions and private practice. Mr. Chopko is the chair of Stradley Ronon's nonprofit & religious organizations practice group.
