State Bar Of Texas To Present Annual Advanced Insurance Law Course

The State Bar of Texas has scheduled its 5th Annual Advanced Insurance Law Course.

The two-day program will take place on Thursday and Friday, March 27 and 28 at the Adolphus Hotel, 1321 Commerce Street, Dallas. Sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the first day and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the second day.

Panelists will address topics such as: The FortuityDoctrine: An Emerging Defense in the Liability Context; Hot Insurance Discovery Issues; Why You Should Care About Appraisals;Contractual Indemnity and Additional Insureds; Climbing Mt. Everest in Tennis Shoes: Ethical & Practical Challenges Faced by Tort & Insurance Law Practitioners; Practical Advice; How to "Stower-ize" the Carrier in the Complicated Multi-Party Case, and Settlements, Assignments and Agreements Between Plaintiffs and Insured Defendants: What Can and Can't Be Done.

The course director will be Ernest Martin Jr., Haynes and Boone. Among the speakers will be James A. Baker and Paul K. Stafford, K&L Gates; Ellen Smith Pryor, professor of law, SMU Dedman School of Law, and William J. Chriss, director, Texas Center for Legal Ethics & Professionalism.
