State Bar of Texas To Explore Consumer And Commercial Law

The State Bar of Texas has scheduled a two-day Advanced Consumer and Commercial law seminar for Thursday and Friday, November 13 and 14, at the Rosewood Crescent Hotel in Dallas.

On Thursday, the seminar begins at 8:30 a.m. and adjourns at 5 p.m. followed by a reception, and on Friday it begins at 8:45 a.m. and adjourns at 3:30 p.m.

The program will include an insurance law update, a panel discussion about consumer privacy issues, a consumer law and DTPA update, an ethics presentation, what a consumer lawyer should know about consumer bankruptcy, an arbitrations update, a panel discussion titled Winning in Arbitration,and discussions about debt and foreclosures, effective depositions, and pro bono opportunities in Dallas.

Scheduled speakers include F. Paul Bland, Jr., of Trial Lawyers for Public Justice in Washington DC; Ambassador Robert W. Jordan, Baker Botts L.L.P.; M.H. Cersonsky, Alonso, Cersonsky & Garcia, P.C.; Ira Rheingold, executive director of the National Association of Consumer Advocates in Washington DC; Peter T. Hoffman, professor at The University of Houston Law School; and E. Steve Bolden II of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.
