State Bar Of Texas SchedulesTwo-Day Business Law Course

The State Bar of Texas has scheduled its annual Advanced Business Law Course for Thursday and Friday, October 22 and 23, at the Norris CityCentre in Houston.

The course will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Friday.

Topics to be discussed include tax issues contained in the stimulus package; a market study of mergers and acquisitions; M & A negotiation trends; top issues to know about international trade compliance; and equity compensation for LLCs.

On Thursday, fraud enforcement will be discussed from the perspectives of the regulators/enforcers with Alan M. Buie, assistant U.S. attorney, Northern District of Texas; Steven Korotash, associate regional director, SEC; and Joseph Jason Rotunda, Texas State Securities Board. A discussion about fraud enforcement from the internal investigator and defense perspective will follow with Brent Alan Benoit, Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell and Noel Reed of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. On Friday, David Rex of Jackson Walker will discuss Current Trends in Venture Capital and Private Equity in a lunchtime presentation.
