State Bar Of Texas Schedules Spring Health Law Conference

On Thursday and Friday, April 14 and 15, the State Bar of Texas has scheduled a Health Law Conference to be held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Houston. It will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

Attendees may attend an optional session on Wednesday evening, from 7:00 to 9:15, to cover basic health law and in-house counsel issues. It is limited to in-house counsel and is intended to include active discussion and sharing among panelists and participants.

On Thursday morning, Jack S. Schroder, Jr., formerly of Alston + Bird LLP, will offer the Health Care Year-In-Review, and Mark E. Lutes of Epstein Becker Green will discuss Accountable Care Organizations and Alternatives. At lunch, attendees will choose among four Table Topics, including Accountable Care Organizations, Current Physician Practice Concerns, Stark/Anti-Kickback Issues, and Exclusive Contracts. In the afternoon, audits and the increasing efforts of CMS and its various audit contractors to pursue Medicare overpayments and strategies responding to such efforts will be discussed by Tobin Richard Boenig and Gregory Nolan Etzel.

On Friday, the program includes a Texas Liability Review, a Texas Legislative Update, and a government enforcement panel with Gary W. Eiland, King & Spalding LLP and Susan J. Miller, Office of the Attorney General.
