Sixth Annual In-House Counsel Conference Scheduled

The Massachusetts Bar Association has scheduled its Sixth Annual In-House Counsel Conference: Doing Business in Troubled Times for Wednesday, December 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Marriott Hotel, Newton, MA.

Among the panelists will be Peter D. McDermott, Banner & Witcoff Ltd, serving as conference co-chair with David A. Parke, Bulkley, Richardson and Gelinas LLP. Other faculty members will be The Hon. Ralph D. Gants, Superior Court, Commonwealth of Massachusetts; Stephen Y. Chow, Burns & Levinson LLP; James C. Donnelly Jr., Mirick, O'Connell, DeMallie & Lougee LLP; Warren F. Fitzgerald, Fitzgerald Dispute Resolution LLC; and Angelo P. Lopresti, IPG Photonics Corp.

The conference will address current developments and hot topics, including recent developments in the Business Litigation Session of the Superior Court, electronic and other discovery issues that affect document retention, and how the New Massachusetts Wage Act impacts businesses.

Included in the program will be a panel discussion of directors' duties, including duties that arise when a company is in trouble and what it means for a director to be independent, issues relating to effective management of intellectual property with a limited budget, and a presentation concerning risk management to avoid or minimize the cost of litigation in uncertain times.
