SF Bar Plans Persuasive Writing Seminar

Persuasive Legal Writing is the title of an annual seminar presented by the San Francisco Bar Association on Wednesday, November 12, from 9 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. at the BASF Conference Center, 301 Battery Street in San Francisco.

Speakers Daniel U. Smith and Justice Stuart R. Pollack will teach attendees to write motions and briefs that capture the court's attention, structuring a document, and ways to persuade a busy judge with brevity, simplicity, clarity and honesty.They will present more than 70 helpful writing tips, such as writing shorter briefs more easily, pleasing the client, enhancing credibility with the court, and increasing a lawyer's chances of winning.

Daniel U. Smith is a certified appellate specialist and belongs to the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers.He has 32 years of civil appellate practice in state and federal courts.Justice Pollack, an associate justice of the court of appeal, First Appellate District, Division Three. For twenty years he served on the San Francisco Superior Court.
