Seminar Will Offer Introduction To Basics Of Publishing Law

Beginner's Guide to Publishing Law and Publishing Agreements is the title of a CLE seminar planned by the DC Bar Association.

The program will take place on Tuesday, October 9 from 6 to 9:15 p.m. at the DC Bar Conference Center, 1250 H Street, NW, Washington, DC.

This course, taught by publishing law expert Gail E. Ross, Lichtman, Trister and Ross, PLLC, will introduce attorneys to publishing law, including the publishing industry and how it affects the law. Participants will learn about the negotiation of a book publishing contract through a clause-by-clause discussion and receive practice tips and insights.

The course will introduce attendees to a variety of publishing industry agreements including literary agency agreements, collaboration agreements, and magazine agreements. The course also will examine some important recent developments and legal issues that affect publishing law, including Google's book program, and the impact of Internet publishing and self-publishing.
