Seminar Will Explore Legal Aspects Of Pandemic, Disaster Planning

The Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI) has scheduled a CLE seminar titled Pandemic and Disaster Planning.

The program will take place on Thursday, July 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the PBI Conference Center, 5080 Ritter Road, Mechanicsburg, PA.

Discussion topics will include: The Medical Side - The Who, What, Where, When and How of an Avian Flu Pandemic; The Legal Side - Public Health Emergencies vs. Public Disaster; Employer Rights/Employee Rights/ Employment Issues; Forcing Employees to Stay at Home When the Environment is Unsafe or Employees Are Potentially Ill; Travel Restrictions, and Restrictions on Activities Outside of Work.

Among the speakers are Paul Z. Kazaras, assistant executive director, Philadelphia Bar Association; Steve Alles, MD, Philadelphia Department of Public Health, and Shannon Fitzgerald, Philadelphia emergency preparedness coordinator.
