Seminar Will Explore Business Torts

The Tennessee Bar Association is planning a CLE seminar titled Unfair Competition/Business Torts in two locations.

The program will take place on Monday, November 26 at the Jackson Chamber of Commerce, Jackson, TN, and on Friday, November 30 at the Tennessee bar Center, Nashville, TN. Sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

The first hour will cover the four Allright factors needed to enforce a restrictive covenant. The second hour will cover the prima facie elements needed to establish tortuous interference with contract and compare those to tortuous interference with business relations. The third hour is the ethics component of the program, and will cover conflicts of interest, joint defense agreements and their implications, the implications of reliance of counsel defenses, and the attorney-client and work product privileges.

The program chair is Daniel Van Horn, Butler, Snow, O'Mara, Stevens & Canada, PLLC.
