Seminar Focus: How To Defend Immigrants Facing Deportation

The Colorado Bar Association this month will present a CLE seminar titled Immigration: Advanced Removal Defense Training. The session is designed to provide training for attorneys willing to accept immigration cases on a pro bono basis.

The program will take place on Wednesday, May 16 from 9 a.m. to 4:25 p.m. at the CBA-CLE Classroom, 1900 Grant Street, Denver.

The program will provide instruction in the fundamentals of representing detained non-citizens in immigration proceedings. It will cover the basics of immigration court procedure, common forms of relief and the often unique ethical issues presented by these cases. Attorneys willing to accept cases on a pro bono basis may attend at a reduced rate.

The program chair and seminar moderator is Mekela Goehring, executive director of the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network.
