Seminar Examines Social Media Risks To Corporations

On Wednesday, February 9, the Practising Law institute will present Social Media 2011: Addressing Corporate Risks.

It will be held at the PLI California Center, 685 Market Street in San Francisco.

Designed for in-house counsel and outside counsel and business professionals who need to know the legal issues surrounding the uses of social media, this course will examine the challenging legal issues that the new marketing opportunities of social media present. Companies that are taking advantage of such sites as Facebook and Twitter must take the time to identify and address the attendant legal risks.

Attendees will learn about social media - how it works and why it is transforming the business world; minimizing liability arising from use by employees; e-discovery and record retention considerations; IP concerns such as brand protection; ensuring protection under CDA's Safe Harbor; online marketing - new opportunities and risks; privacy law issues; and practical tips for handling real-world issues.
