San Francisco Bar Schedules Pro Bono Clinic

The San Francisco Bar Association has scheduled a pro bono clinic titled Consumer Defense: Training for the Non-Expert for Tuesday, October 6, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the BASF Conference Center, 301 Battery Street in San Francisco.

This free training prepares licensed California attorneys to advise low-income clients at VLSP's bi-monthly Debt Defense and Education Clinic. The training will focus on the hot topic of collection defense law to assist clients who have been sued by creditors.

At the clinic, volunteers will have the opportunity to counsel individual clients, draft in proper litigation documents, negotiate on behalf of clients and represent them at hearings or at trial. Training participants are required to staff the Debt Defense and Education Clinic at least three times within a year of the training.

This is an excellent opportunity for lawyers to help low-income people who are impacted by the economic crisis while learning a relevant area of the law and learning litigation skills, and gaining CLE credits.

For more information about credits and fees, see CLE Events at The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel website at www.metrocorpcounsel.com.
