The Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) is offering a CLE seminar titled The Bankruptcy Card and How to Play It: Bankruptcy Issues for Attorneys, Federal and State Judges.

The program will take place on Thursday, August 9 from 2 to 4:40 p.m. at the BASF Conference Center, 301 Battery Street, San Francisco. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m.

Discussions will cover: recent changes resulting from the enactment of the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act; the automatic stay and how it affects pending litigation in the state and federal courts; jurisdictional issues - who decides the scope and extent of the automatic stay, and special concerns of federal district court judges - appeals, removal, and new issues related to withdrawal of the reference.

Speakers will be the Hon. Sarah Sharer Curley, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for Arizona; the Hon. Elizabeth S. Stong, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York; the Hon. Leslie J. Tchaikovsky, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California; the Hon. Diane Wick, San Francisco Superior Court, and Lorraine S. McGowan, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP.
