San Francisco ACC To Discuss Ethical Issues

In a lunchtime seminar titled Ethical Issues: Staying Out of Trouble and Getting Out of Trouble, the San Francisco ACC chapter will have a lively discussion about a topic that should interest every in-house lawyer: how to stay out of jail and prevent regulators from penalizing your company.

The program is scheduled for Tuesday, December 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the offices of Fenwick & West, Silicon Valley Center in Mountain View, California.

The discussion will be lead by Kirk Williams, the chief legal and compliance officer for Sunrise Telecom and Chris Steskal, chair of the White Collar/Regulatory Group of the U.S. Attorney's Office in San Francisco.They will explore the current regulatory environment for in-house lawyers, the importance of compliance programs for regulators, the role of in-house lawyers in establishing compliance programs and the obstacles they face, and latest developments in up-the-ladder reporting under SOX and the California code of Professional Conduct.
