At Advising Nonprofit Organizations 2009, participants will learn about fundamental concepts and new developments in the federal and state laws affecting nonprofits, as well as new challenges and practical solutions for overcoming those challenges. The seminar will take place on Wednesday, February 4 at the PLI Center, 810 Seventh Avenue, New York City from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The business of running a nonprofit organization has become increasingly complex, as nonprofits are under heightened scrutiny to account for their management and fiduciary practices. Legislative and administrative changes on the federal and state level have created a series of new issues for certain types of nonprofits. As the environment in which nonprofit organizations operate becomes increasingly complex and attention to proper corporate governance becomes ever more intense, attorneys who advise nonprofits and their boards of directors or are contemplating board service themselves must be aware of both the legal norms governing their conduct and the public perceptions of charitable activities.
