Akin is pleased to announce that energy partner Rob Butler has joined the firm’s London office as part of Akin’s global energy practice.
Rob advises clients on a broad range of projects and transactions in the energy and infrastructure sectors, with a particular focus on upstream and midstream oil & gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG). Rob’s practice spans both the traditional energy and energy transition space. He represents clients on the acquisition and disposal of energy assets, the development of energy projects, and the sale and purchase of commodities.
“Akin’s global energy practice continues to go from strength to strength. Rob’s hire supports our strategic growth, bringing additional depth and breadth to our top-tier energy team,” said Akin chairperson Kim Koopersmith. “With increasing client demand in traditional energy as well as the energy transition work, Rob’s deep experience is an excellent complement to our team in meeting our clients’ needs. I’m delighted to welcome Rob to our firm.”
London partner in charge Sebastian Rice added, “Rob strengthens our corporate offering in London with an energy practice that intersects with many of our transactional focus areas, including private equity and mergers & acquisitions (M&A). His broad skillset in oil & gas M&A and project development, alongside his specific LNG experience, enables us to provide our clients with a full and integrated offering.”
Rob joined Akin from Baker Botts, where he was firmwide practice group co-chair of the LNG, Hydrogen and Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage practice groups, and the International Hydrocarbons and Midstream practice. He is the latest in a series of high-profile additions to Akin’s top-tier energy practice, including, most recently, Trent Bridges and Ian Goldberg in Houston.
“I’m thrilled to join Akin’s premier global energy practice,” said Rob on his move. “I’m looking forward to working collaboratively with the team, and with colleagues throughout the broader corporate practice, to provide market-leading advice to our clients.”
