Faegre Drinker announced today that Raj Patel has joined Faegre Drinker’s construction and real estate litigation group as a partner in Chicago. Patel joins from a national law firm where he was a partner and leader of the construction practice.
Patel advises clients on construction, infrastructure, leasing, and supply chain transactions across various industries, including education, automotive, aviation, oil and gas, and sports and gaming.
“Raj brings an incredible depth of knowledge in construction, aviation, project finance and real estate transactions to the team,” said Patrick Miller, partner and leader of the construction and real estate litigation group. “His significant experience in both private practice and in-house will bring a unique perspective to clients to help develop strategic solutions. He will be a strong addition to the group, and we are excited to welcome him to Faegre Drinker.”
With over $20 billion in construction and infrastructure project experience in the U.S. and abroad, clients seek out Patel as their trusted adviser on projects of significant strategic and operational importance. He leverages his transactional background, including extensive in-house and project finance experience, to help clients achieve their commercial objectives and proactively address potential issues before they escalate into disputes.
“Raj’s collaborative spirit is an excellent, natural fit for our firm. He is going to be a great asset to cross-office, cross-practice teams,” said James Sawyer, partner and Chicago office leader. “We look forward to him joining the Chicago office.”
Patel earned his A.B., cum laude, from Columbia University and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan, where he served as contributing editor of the Michigan Journal of International Law.
