Public Sector EEO And Employment Law Focus Of Washington DC Conference

On Thursday and Friday, August 19 and 20, the National Employment Law Institute will take an in-depth look at public sector EEO and employment law.

The seminar will be located at the Westin Washington DC, 1400 M. Street NW in Washington, DC.

The schedule for the two-day seminar is Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Friday the event begins at 8:00 a.m. and the conference adjourns at 1:15 p.m.

The seminar will start with an overview of the major developments in EEO led by Kenneth M. Willner of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP.Mr. Willner will discuss the significant appellate and trial cases as well as developments by the Supreme Court to employment practice areas. This will be followed by programs focusing on wage and hour compliance, harassment issues, and implementing and monitoring privacy policies. The Thursday sessions will be led by Christina Stoneburner of Fox Rothschild LLP, Jill Rosenberg of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliff, LLP and Robert Brownstone of Fenwick & West LLP.

The second day opens with an examination of public employees and free speech rights and an analysis of the recent Supreme Court pronouncements involving the interplay between employment law rights and obligations and free speech rights when the regulation of speech conflicts with First Amendment protections. The segment will be led by Dennis Duffy of Baker Botts LLP.

At the final segment, David Fram of the National Employment Law Institute will look at the ADA Act and offer an update to FMLA law.
